Pueraria Mirifica contains a valuable phytoestrogen named miroestrol. Miroestrol is similar to the safest human estrogen estriol. Miroestrol is 3000 times stronger than the estrogenic activity exhibited by soy isoflavones(genistein) and 1000 times that of red clover. In addition to miroestrol, Pueraria Mirifica contains substantial amounts of other phytoestrogens including daidzein, genistein, puerarin, and mirificin. The industry standard is measured by HPLC chromatogram image in the later phyto-chemicals mentioned. When miroestrol enters an estrogen receptor it modulates the effect on the receptor. Pueraria Mirifica supplements when the estrogenic activity is low and dilutes if the receptor estrogenic activity is high. Miroestrol has no effect on estrogen levels in the body as it only influences the estrogen receptor.

Menopause: In a clinical study on menopausal women in Thailand miroestrol lowered hot flashes 11 fold and night sweats 4 fold within 30 days. Most women start to notice relief of symptoms within one week. [1]

Breast cancer: A series of studies involving breast cell lines and the activity of Pueraria mirifica in vitro have been performed by the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Phramongkutklao College of Medicine, Bangkok, Thailand. These studies have shown that Pueraria mirifica root extract has potent anti-estrogenic properties against aggressive cell cancer lines in vitro, especially the proliferative estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer lines (T47-D, MCF-7, and ZR-75-1) obtained from the MD Anderson Cancer Institute (Texas) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). [2]

Anti-aging: When Pueraria mirifica is taken as a dietary supplement, its phytoestrogen constituents will naturally alleviate symptoms occurring as a result of the aging process and a deficiency in estrogen levels, e.g. sagging breasts, wrinkled skin, bone loss, and gray hair. The claim of antiaging and rejuvenation effects of this plant appears to be from these [coumarins, flavonoids (daidzein, daidzin, genestin, genistein, puerarin) and chromene (miroestrol)] compounds, especially miroestrol which is a known potent estrogenic principle. [3]

Osteoporosis: Postmenopausal women are more inclined to use natural remedies to alleviate postmenopausal symptoms and help reduce their risk for chronic diseases such as osteoporosis. Recent reports support the notion that certain bioactive constituents, e.g., phytoestrogens, in plants play a role in maintaining or improving skeletal health. [4]

Skin care and wrinkle reduction: With modern extraction technology, the extract from dried roots is standardized and prepared in the form of powder and solution. The extract solution is used in the cosmetic industry such as preparation of breast cream, eye gel, and skin moisturizer. Topical uses of Pueraria mirifica have been known to include: Wrinkle reduction - Eye Gel, Body Gel, Day and Night Cream
Breast firming - Breast Creams, Cataplasm and Patches. [5] Siam Natural ™ offers several excellent products HERE

Instructions for Kwao Krua Kao

The simple method to ingest Kwao Krua Kao (pueraria mirifica) is strained brewed in a cup of herbal tea morning and evening. The normal recommended dose according to researchers is 50-100 mg per day of pure extract, 200mg per day for the first month will help boost and normalize depleted hormone levels. Traditional Thai usage has menstruating women skip the therapy during menses.

For a topical application dissolve Kwao Krua Kao in mineral water to make a paste, or blend in carrier oil (we recommend organic cold pressed macadamia or brown rice bran oil) and massage into the desired areas of the skin; face, hands, neck, breasts, buttocks, etc. for optimum hormonal replenishment and skin rejuvenation.

Toxicity Study

According to a study conducted at the School of Medicine, Saint Mariane University, Tokyo, Japan by Kuramoshi, T. and Smitasiri, Y. about the preliminary study of Pueraria mirifica in Japanese females, 50 healthy menstruating volunteer females, ages 20 to 49, were given between 100 to 600 mg orally of Pueraria mirifica root powder daily as capsules for 7 days, two weeks after menstruation. The Herb

The Research

Menopause
“ The subjects were pre and postmenopausal women with vasomotor symptoms, such as hot flushes and night sweats.. Thirty-seven cases were evaluated. 20 of 37 (54.1%) randomly received a dose of 50 mg/day of Pueraria mirifica (Group A), and 17 of 37 (45.9%) received 100 mg/day of Pueraria mirifica (Group B). Conclusion: Pueraria mirifica, containing phytoestrogens, relatively alleviated the climacteric symptoms in perimenopausal women. While there was a slight decrease in lipoproteins and an increase in hormonal profiles, Pueraria mirifica demonstrates great promise in the treatment of climacteric symptoms among perimenopausal women.”

Breast Cancer
“ One health benefit, I have already stated earlier, is that in the regions where PM grows, they have the lowest breast cancer rate in the world. It’s less than 10% of the United States rate. In addition, cell culture studies show that PM is anti-cancer to estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells. ... Perhaps, when PM occupies estrogen receptors, it acts in the same manner as the breast cancer preventer tamoxifen in that the receptors are occupied, but not triggered to produce the cascade of chemical reactions that activate the genes that facilitate cancer growth.”

Anti-Aging
“ The old men and women who've taken it regularly, in the north of Thailand, have natural black hair well into their 80s. "These women still have firm breasts and young skin. They have great memories and don't remember ever being sick.”
Garry Gordon, M.D., D.O. M.D.(H)

Osteoporosis
“ Pueraria mirifica, a Thai herbal plant, containing a high amount of phytoestrogens was a choice of interest for this study. Bone loss in trabecular and cortical bones of the various sites of axial bone (fourth lumbar vertebral body) and long bones (tibia and femur) after ORX was dose-dependently prevented by P. mirifica. The effects were specific on bone types and sites.”
